[powerdot] empty slide and horizontal spacing

I am using the "emptyslide" environment for displaying graphs (.ps pictures
created in MATLAB) like shown in section 6.2 of the Powerdot documentation.
I would like to be able to include one or two lines of text after the graph.
Have tried various combinations of hspace{} to indent the lines of text
Nothing works; only \begin{center} works, but I would like to produce left
justified text.
Is it possible ?
