[powerdot] Short slide names

Dear all,
is there any way to specify short and long slide names analogously to
short and long chapter/section/.... titles?
e.g.
\begin{slide}[options]{short slide name}{very long slide name}
\end{slide}
in analogy to
\chapter[short]{lond chapter title}
The reason why I am asking: in my left-hand toc on each slide, long
slide names make it look unpretty -- I'd prefer something like one
liners instead of the full slide names.
Thanks in advance for any help!
wbr,
Lukas
