The flip side of that coin is that our images have become very primitive with the focus on execution rather than content.

Eye candy.

Visually illiterate because we don't use our eyes anymore because our world is so abstracted?

Thanks Photo Grump for the view of just how the Midwest looks these days ...or is that a visual metaphor for Photoshop.

Just watched the Peter Greenaway documentary “Rembrandt’s J’Accuse” – Rick Dahms recommended it. Greenaway makes the point that we have become visually illiterate over the past few centuries even though we are awash in images. Interesting.

Might have something to do with Photoshop being way over- engineered. What other popular software out there requires the user to search the screen for a teeny, 3 pixel, non-intuitive symbol or icon to display an important but confusing menu, all just to do what should be a common function? Photoshop is a dinosaur at the beginning of the Age of Mammals.

hmm, I must have a strong opinion on this...

Very interesting, this poll of 22,000 respondents shows that Lightroom is the most popular post-production application with 32% followed by Photoshop at 21%.
