What platform and version of php and phpa did you install alan, and can you
send me the apache errors log from the time you started the server to when
you got the max clients message.
In what should be rare cases, it's possible for phpa to get 'stuck' on a
lock, and that would certainly cause what you saw. Even though phpa has
detection for that scenario, and has been well tested, if there's evidence
that crash detection, if there indeed was any crash, needs to be improved
then I'll do that.
