Good point. I agree with the way you suggest the encoder should run, and
understand that the encoding wouldn't be totally hacker-proof
('cracker-proof' for the pedantic :0)
I think Zend think that encoding/compiling is only useful for big scale
firms, but the ability to 'close' my source would be useful for a number of
projects i'm working on. I only do a small amount of small time commercial
work - the rest is hobbying - but I simply want to release my source code in
such a way that does not invite copying, modifying and using in other
applications. I've recently had code and intellectual property I'd created
for free stolen from me and I suspect used for profit which is highly
irritating.
Anyway, that's my two pence worth. Encoding would be very welcome here, if
you have the time and interest, Nick!
