Well. Sorry, I know that Nick isn't considering anything else but after
reading all those mails about PHPBB and Ikonboard I thought to write
my comments for once.
Off PHPA topic comment about security issues:
Many people need to completely trust the developers of web
applications(I mean BBS, Shopping Carts,Webmail systems,...) and
can't be aware of how exploitable the software really is. Security sites
won't tell you everything and I'm used to get jumped on when
mentioning unfixed security issues of ones "beloved software" at
software discussions and keep quiet then. Posting directly the exploit to
boards, as many people want isn't an option since I don't want the
software to be exploited, I just want people to be aware of problems
which are reported, but not addressed by devs.
This mail isn't directed to anyone(and especially not to Nick! your
software is awesome) but it's a topic which bugs me as web developer
and as someone who reports security exploits alot. I doubt that many
people are aware of this.
Sorry again for abusing the list for an off topic security comment.
