If you have problems with php.ini, and run a Windows machine somewhere, take
a look at:
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/phpconf.htm
I've not played with phpa yet (my ISP is running PHP 4.0.4pl1 and my in
house server mirrors that) but am looking forward to doing so when I get the
chance. So this has been an interesting discussion to follow.
FWIW I'm in the midst of a large high profile (non-web) project which needs
to be demonstrated at the end of the week, only the licenses it requires
which have been shipped from Australia have been sent wrongly configured,
and we have probably 10 days to wait for replacements. And these licences
are not cheap! So the incoveniences mentioned here should be seen in
context.
Looking from the end user point of view, no reg key is the best option, but
there is no way that Nick will get the information he wants voluntarily
because people are too lazy. I would certainly applaud his efforts to
resolve the problems, I'm all the more likely to use phpa because of this.
