These are my thoughts on the subject, being someone that's still figuring out if PHPA is something for me, or not. For someone like myself, still evaluating PHPA in a somewhat complex environment, adding the registration kind of discourages me in trying the product. What's wrong with having to fill out a form when you download, a simple one, that generates the key on the fly, that alone would make it easier for everyone to test the beast. I'm responsible for around 100 virtual hosts personally, and I can't begin to imagine the work involved in keeping track of all the keys. Also aiding a "very" large company (they don't come any larger) in developing their PHP hosting, with more than 500+ potential virtual hosts, the headache involved in the key-management simply doesn't paint PHPA sexy at all :) There must be other ways of keeping track of the usage. The key-idea only gives you an idea how many people setup, or try out the accelerator, and simply doesn't give you any idea at all if they're using it or not. ... no offense! I still believe I'll end up using PHPA, I just think that fewer steps in the process of getting it working, means more people will use it, more people will provide you with feedback, and eventually (hopefully) you'll end up with a better (and I don't mean it's not good to begin with ;). Just my $0.02... but then again beggars can't be choosers :P Kind regards, Egill R. egill@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ www.php-accelerator.co.uk Home of the free PHP Accelerator To post, send email to phpa@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe, email phpa-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject unsubscribe
