I find nothing outrageous in it either. And I too have suffered from theft
of my intellectual property. However, far from whining, what people are
saying is that whilst they realise the benefit for Nick, they find the idea
of license keys contentious either because a) it is difficult for them to
implement, or b) it would require too much administrative overhead. This is
a real shame because the power of phpa is recognised and it'd be great to be
able to see it go from strenght to strength.
Whilst ultimately this is Nick's application, and the direction that he
takes with it is up to him, as a user I would personally like to see him use
his great talents to add more features in the core program rather than a
very fancy and all encompassing license configuration tool. I'm sure Nick
doesn't want to really have to spend all his time sorting out license
queries etc and helping newbies edit their httpd.conf.
Again, what Nick does is not up to us - but by expressing our views we can
hopefully assist Nick in this way. No one is going to be offended if their
suggestions are not taken on board.
We're all very grateful really :)
Chris.
