The only one I hadn't tried was changing that Group Policy. I set it in that area to "Enabled" for do not allow it to run. Thanks for that info. This part is strange: How to Stop Outlook Express from Running Windows Messenger When They Are Opened Outlook Express 1) Open Outlook Express 2) Click Tools, Options 3) Click General tab 4) Uncheck the box for Automatically log on to Windows Messenger 5) Click OK I don't have any box for "Automatically log on to Windows Messenger". (Maybe that's just for SP1 since that looks like an old webpage because they mention SP1 on the page). -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://www.OrpheusComputing.com http://www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karl Springer" At <http://www.pchell.com/support/removemessenger.shtml> the author opens with: "What is Windows Messenger? Windows Messenger is the Microsoft instant messaging program built into Windows XP. There is also a Windows Messenger service built into Windows XP that helps produce pop up ads via IP addresses. The two programs are completely separate and do different things even though Microsoft has essentially named them the same." At the cited URL there are a variety "fixes"; perhaps one will get rid of the "ghost".
