?? I don't know, that's what I'm asking. -Clint God Bless, Clint Hamilton, Owner www.OrpheusComputing.com www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com www.OrpheusComputing.com/cheap_reliable_web_hosting.html www.OrpheusComputing.com/PCworks-computer-help-email-list.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Grossman" <<< Is it possible to take a photo from your HD and "send that" to the fax machine and fax that? (Obviously I never use it).>>> How? David Grossman -----Original Message----- I have several of them (I sell PC hardware, remember? ;-) No, there's many many parts of the country (and world) that only have dial-up, also those that just don't want to use broadband and still use dial-up. Huh? ISA only?? There's ISA, PCI, PCI-express, serial, and USB dial-up modems to name a few. I had one of those free online fax services years ago, but I don't know what happened to it. I HAVE a fax machine, but like I said below, I'm trying to find a way to send a photo that I don't FIRST have to print out in order to fax it (which would take an entire ink cartridge). Is it possible to take a photo from your HD and "send that" to the fax machine and fax that? (Obviously I never use it). -Clint ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Grossman" If you can find one. I think you're mixing generations and architecture. Didn't the dial-up modem era end way before USB came along? I don't recall seeing anything but ISA dial-up modems. If you come across one, then it may handle one problem: I don't recall ever seeing a BSOD that resulted from a USB connection. You CAN (sort of) send faxes with a DSL modem. You send it to some service where it's forwarded to the fax machine. Let THEIR fingers do the dialing. Also, I think some older AIO printers with faxes let you send your fax from your computer file. I don't know whether the fax goes through the AIO printer. These printers are dirt cheap now (buy a box of Cheerios and get three printers plus a rebate coupon that can be used only at Circuit City for a 75-baud acoustic coupler modem with a pulse-dialing phone). David Grossman -----Original Message----- So you'd have to have a **dial-up** (56k fax) modem, right? If so, I guess I could always hook up one that's USB just to fax then remove it. -Clint ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hugh Vandervoort" <hughva@xxxxxxxxx> You would send faxes the same way David does. All you need is a fax modem and a telephone line. On Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 6:30 AM, Clint Hamilton-PCWorks Admin <> wrote: > Unfortunately are still demanding the use of a fax.
