-=PCTechTalk=- system restore!

My computer has been giving me some trouble so I decided to do a system
restore, I have a gateway 2002 computer with Windows XP pro.  It will let me
go back like one week but no further, it says can't restore to this point or
something like that...
Any suggestions?  I noticed that the restore point I was trying to go back
to was prior to a windows update NOT SP2  (I still haven't done that for
fear I would have even more problems...) is that why it won't go back more?
I wanted to go back like two months in hopes of solving the graphic
thumbnail viewing problem I am having...

 The first problem is viewing in thumbnails... graphics are  to dark to
view, I finally figured by opening each one and moving to Another new folder
by the save as  and by doing this method this is working to repair this...
going to take forever for I have a TON of pictures and graphics!  ugh...

The other is often I get emails where the words all run together. Especially
long emails like a devotional or just a long message...  Only one or two
sentences will run together..  IS this a Outlook Express problem or
something else? And is there a way to repair OE? Seems like years ago I
could do this - but with XP Pro I can't figure out how.

I am sorry for multiple questions, I hope someone can help.

Any advise ?
