-=PCTechTalk=- surge protector safe to use for now?

Will it hurt me to use the surge protector for now since at least I can plug 
all my things into it and have them all working instead of only plugging in 
two things.  I realize I may not be protected during a storm, if it is not 
grounded right but could I get shocked? Or would it cut itself off usually.
