For a number of years I have used AVG Free with complete satisfaction. I
was sent email advice that an update was available.
Recently I started getting the 'restart computer' message after each
download and the multicolored icon in the task bar became grey shaded.
Additionally I no longer get email messages re updates. The 'restart
computer message also has gone and there's no chage in the icon color! I
think I read that only the paid version get get sent email advice. After
downloading updates the request to restart my computer no longer is
requested. Incidentally some downloads arrive automatically, other times
a manual check reveals an update is available.
Am I right in assuming that AVG updates merely add the required string
to identify a new virus, and that there really is no need to restart?
What experience do others have, please? Any suggestions?
TIA
Rick H
