-=PCTechTalk=- mystery-curiosity question regarding computer/cable correlation

my cable hookup was out for 26 hours - I thought I could do some rearranging
of my files, etc. but also wanted to make sure I had Norton's on for when
the cable came back up (they gave no time estimate). after the cable went
out, all of a sudden my computer was freezing up every minute literally -
when I'd reboot it sometimes Norton would come up automatically like I have
it set and sometimes it wouldn't - if it didn't sometimes I could get it to
open manually and sometimes I couldn't - I was gettting Windows errors,
Norton errors you name it. I was starting to panic since I had just had it
reformatted. I did a full scandisk (no problems), a defrag, couldn't run a
virus check because Norton's wouldn't allow it. Now here comes the mysterty
question and curiosity on my part. When the cable came back up, voila no
more freezeups, Norton booted right up and in fact did an update, no more
errors, etc. and the computer is working smoothly once again. What would
the correlation be between a cable outage and my computer being able to work
independentally without cable? I just like to know what causes things and
why <gr> Thanks! Dolores (I have another question but will do it
spearately so the subject line shows correctly)
