-=PCTechTalk=- looking for tutorials for sound editing program

Hi, does anyone have a good place to go for free tutorial on sound editing 
programs like "Goldwave" in particular?  I tried googling but not finding a 
good one.  I can record myself, save, and play it back, and convert but I 
cant get it to set for 20-30 seconds and then stop recording.  I need to set 
it for a precise amount of time.
