-=PCTechTalk=- freezing computer....possible update problem???

Hi,
I have been very good and quite just reading and learning but now I think I
need a bit of help.
I have Win XP Home edition on my computer and the first part of Feb. it said
that there was an update to be installed. Well I have been doing these all
along with no problems, that is till now. After having it do the update I
have noticed that my computer is more than a bit sluggish and at times it
just stops, as in everything freezes. I have to wait anywhere from a minute
to several minutes for it to respond again. In my folders there is a folder
named $NtUninstallQ810577$. As I was searching for something else I found
this and several other folders with similar names all these folders seem to
correspond with updates that were automatically downloaded and I told it to
install. Inside this folder is a file named mrxsmb.sys and another folder
named spuninst containing files named and spuninst.bat, spuninst.exe, and
spuninst.inf. Is this a program to remove the update? If I do this will it
really remove the update? Has anyone had anything close to this happen? Or
is it something else totally? If it were you would you consider
reformatting or leave it and see if it works itself out with later updates?

I am at a total loss as to what to do here.

Thank you for your time.
Torri
