-=PCTechTalk=- Windows Update

After my clean install I was downloading and installing updates (about 115 
total, obviously not the SP3 update).  It completed the download and was 
working on installing update 40 something when I went to bed. I got up this 
morning and it had frozen at installing number 48. 
I used the task manager to close the update window.  Now nothing works except 
the mouse pointer will move.  All I have is an empty desktop where icons should 
be and the taskbar does not appear on mouse over.  Ctrl-Alt-Del does not bring 
up the task manager.

I'll hard reboot.  If that doesn't fix it I'll do a new install.
