-=PCTechTalk=- What emai program l is MAPI?

Can some tell me what a MAPI   I know it is a Microsoft Application Program 
Interface...but.. duh!  I have no clue what that means to me.

Is Outlook Express a Mapi program?

I am asking as I have purchased Hallmark Comedy Card Studio and one way to 
email them to folks is using a MAPI  mail package.

I could also save the card and send it as an attachment... but.. what ever 
it takes...

For some reason in the back of my little brain... I 'think' that Hotmail is 
a MAPI and Outlook Express is not...but I am not sure.

I have not heard the term in years... and I just do know know..
