HI I'm very happy with my 6 year old e-Machines desktop, using WinXP and basic Verizon DSL. However me ol' lady now wants an added laptop, and she wants it wireless... ">( However Verizon has informed me that my current DSL modem, the Westall 6100, is not set up for wireless and I would have to switch from regular DSL to Fios to get the correct modem from them. But I don't want to do this! No way! -I'm quite content with basic DSL speeds and have absolutely no reason to want to pay more every month for Fios.. But never having gone wireless before, I'm wondering if I can buy my own new modem to use for a wyfi setup of a new laptop, and whether I need anything else, like a "router" maybe, to do this? Right now our house phone line has a splitter, with one line going to the phones in the house, and the other going to the DSL Westall 6100 modem for the PC. What else would I have to get now to hook up a wyfi laptop? Much thanks....
