-=PCTechTalk=- Right Click and "Send to" menu

Changed the subject heading---

If you want to have notepad in the right click menu of "send to".

The "Send to" folder is in different locations depending on what OS you are
running.
You can do a search and find it. OR--

In Windows xP it is in Documents and Settings folder. (It is under my name there
but that may vary with how your user names are set up)
"Send to" is in the Windows folder in Windows 98.

Find notepad.exe (in the loose files in Windows folder) and copy a shortcut into
the "send to" folder and notepad will always be on your right click menu.
Anything else you want to have on the right click menu can also have shortcuts
in the "send to" folder.

> Are you talking about Open Expert? Open Expert gives you an "Open With"
option when you right click on a file. Before you've configured it, or when
you click on a file type that you haven't configured it for yet, it will
just say "Configure Applications." If you click on "Configure
Applications," it will open up a window where you can add all the
applications you could possibly want to use to open that particular file
type. Next time you click on that file type and select "Open With," you'll
get a list of all the programs you entered for that file type and you can
just select one.

> When you double click on a WordPad or NotePad document, they automatically
open. They are text editors, or very stripped down versions of a Word
Processor. When you double click on the program, it automatically opens a
blank document window ready to fill with information. The problem with
WordPad is, when you go to save a document, the default format is Word and
it will be saved that way unless you pick otherwise. If you choose to save
it as a Text document, it won't save your formatting, but it will open in
WordPad when you double click it. If it saves itself with formatting as a
Word document, it will open in Word or WordViewer if you don't have Word.
If you don't have Word or WordViewer, the alternative is to open WordPad
first, then pull the Word document in under File/Open. Another alternative
is to use Open Expert and configure it to open a Word document in Word,
WordViewer, or WordPad, then right click on it and select which one you want
to use.
