-=PCTechTalk=- Restore disk

Hi Folks,
about 3 years ago I bought a new Toshiba laptop.

After spending a week or so setting everything up
the way I wanted it I had a minor glitch.
I called Toshiba support, (I had paid close to $400
for extended warrantee/support) for help.

As is so common they told me to use the recovery
disk to reinstall things back to the factory settings.

I said goodby and stared trying to explore their CD.

To my surprise I was able to use PowerQuest,
Partition Magic 8 (the pre Norton version) to
get into the CD, and Drive Image 5 to get the
files I needed.
Like True Image it allowed me to select the files
I wished to restore.

It seems Toshiba had used "Caldera DOS" to image
the hard drive.

Link from Google:
Caldera Opendos is an MS-DOS compatible operating
system, the descendant of DR DOS and Novell DOS.
It can replace the MS-DOS system, and it's free.

I hope this may help others.
