There are lots of programs that do this - Karen's
power tools has a free one

I use Magic Utilities which is at www.magictweak.com
it is very detailed and allows you to kill (stop)
certain process from running. It explains the
consequences of killing and tells you who is trusted
and who owns the program. It is not free.
