-=PCTechTalk=- Re: windows explorer question

I would suggest cleaning the mouse and, especially if you have an optical
mouse, while the ball is out clean the cavity it rests in. If the problem
persists, try a different mouse.

For those not familiar with the feature she is using to select files....

Assume you have a list of 26 files named A, B, C, D . . . Z, displayed
alphabetically...

If you want to select files C through W then first click on file C then
press and hold SHIFT and click on W.

If you then decide you want to include file A and click on A while still
holding the shift key, you will have only files A, B and C highlighted. If
you release the shift key and press and hold the CTRL key instead and then
select A you will have A and C-W highlighted.

If you want to select files C, F, R, U and X then first click on file C then
press and hold the CTRL key and click the rest of the files. (You can
actually click on any of the desired files first then press CTRL and select
the rest in any order you want to.)

If you press and hold the Shift or CTRL key BEFORE you select file C then
the last previously highlighted file will be the first file highlighted. So
if you had previously selected file H and then press and hold SHIFT and
press A (A through H will be highlighted) and then W you will have files H
through W highlighted. If you press and hold CTRL and then press C, F, R,
U, and X you will have C, F, H, R, U, and X highlighted.

If you select ALL 26 files and then press and hold CTRL you can UNselect
files one at a time by clicking on the files to be unselected.
