My two cents:

64-bit computing is the (near) future. 32-bit systems can only access a
little over 3 Gigs of memory, while 64-bit computers can access (in theory
something like 4 terabytes of RAM), but practically up to 192 GBs of RAM
using Ultimate. I just ordered a 64-bit copy of Win 7 from Newegg.com and
plan to set up two partitions (running either Vista 32-bit or Win7 64 bit).
With Pro and Ultimate (of Win7), you can run XP mode, which will allow a lot
of older programs to run that might not run under Vista or Win7 itself). To
run WinXP in Virtual Mode, you need all the memory you can get. Even if you
only have 4 GBs of RAM on your system, with 64-bit OSes, you get the last GB
of RAM back.

Hi Christy,
the Ultimate has more features including games.
The Pro version has games (built in) disabled:<(

Many people on the Win7 group have commented that the computer is
faster with Windows 7 than Vista.

I run the Ultimate 32 bit on this machine and have not had any glitches.

I installed the Windows 7 Home Premium Update 64 bit as a Clean Install
on my HP Business (Vista Business) laptop and have had no problems.

Hi,

I can get microsoft windows 7 pro upgrade 32 bit for $39.98 or
microsoft windows 7 ultimate upgrade 32 bit for $99.98 where I work.

I am now using vista 64 bit on my fairly new laptop. Which is the better
deal and what is different between the two. Wondering if I need the
ultimate or even windows 7 at all?

thanks,
