-=PCTechTalk=- Re: what is autoruns.exe?

Hi Gman,

I do not recall you ever having me run it. Is it monitoring my system, or
is someone able to get on my system?

The date under properties was Oct. 22, 2008 I think. Should it be deleted?
Does secunia add it when scanning?

thanks,

All true, but Cristy is asking about a file called Autoruns.exe, which is
different from the autorun function (which is controlled by several "Run"
keys within the Windows Registry.

Autoruns.exe is just one of many SysInternals utilities used by techs
worldwide to help troubleshoot computer systems. Specifically, it allows yo
u to see what programs and processes are set to automatically run when
Windows boots up. It also allows for easy disabling of said items. I use
it often when troubleshooting client systems.

My guess is that I had Cristy run it at some point in the distant past and
Secunia insisted on having it updated a week ago.

Peace,
Gman
