If you do this depending on the browser and version of windows you are using you will then get a message at a site that is using Active X. You can choose at that point to allow the Active X command to run or not. If it is your bank or other trusted site just say yes. Otherwise say no. Most sites will continue to work (your bank won't nor MS upgrades and online virus scanners etc.). If the site you are at does not work and you want to see it just reload the site and choose yes when asked. There are other ways to control Active X functionality as well as many anti-trojan programs that monitor this feature - the above method is just the quick and dirty way. And yes Active X is a major security hole in Windoze. Just go to the Internet Options in IE (if you are using that one) and choose Security and look for Active X - set the setting to prompt. You might also want to view your Java settings in the same folder as well. If changing the security setting to prompt annoys you you can always change it back.
