Troth, as usual, is right..but...it there is that magnavision or something 
like that on it..then it will not copy.  My other half and I bought some 
cables that allowed him to copy it to his hard drive.  Then he could edit 
out the commercials ...I hate commercials on VHS tapes, DVD's and the 
movies.  I resent paying money to see commercials!!

I need to find the name of the cables (which has some hard ware in it...) 
and I will write back how we do it.
He does use software......to edit it and burn it to DVD.   Will tell you 
about that too when I get the info together.  We have company right now and 
I am going to bed..
Been sick for a few days.  I need to recoup...but I will respond to this.

You need some sort of video capture card. Sometimes the video card will have 
in 'input'. If it does, you can connect your VCR's output to your card's 
input. Then you just use some software that will do the rest.
