-=PCTechTalk=- Re: spybot - uninstall?

oh, ok!! got it!
I am so caught up in trying to figure this thing out, I was hoping there might
be a part somewhere else!!

what a mess !! I don't know what all is going on here. I put on a new registry
checker, and it started to run, and re-booted my computer in a serious crash
mode - so that one got uninstalled!
I deleted the folder for spybot and ran that 1/3 fix - but I don't think it
fixed anything. Wanted a decent registry checker to run to see what I could
remove.
another one that I tried, doesn't actually install, but it doesn't seem to give
the option to pick and choose. it just says back up registry, run - and it
automatically removes problems. I don't want to trust it - and may not want all
their errors removed! I downloaded a couple 30 day trials - the one that crashed
my system was one of those.

so I just re-installed fix it 5.0 and I'll see if it runs and what it finds - if
it runs. at this point, I'm pretty frustrated with this entire mess!!

I couldn't find my 1.2 download to install it> found 1.1 - tried that, but it
just installed so that I then had 1.1 and 1.2 on here!! even tho they were in
the same folder! my luck!!

Hi Cris,
It should not make a difference for you as you know wher it istalled to.

I was pointing out the prociedure generaly as a troubleshooting technique.

what does the default installation have to do with it?
you mean, that even though I deliberately install it into a folder,
it or the parts that I need would be somewhere else?
I'll try the install tomorrow - thanks!

Hi Cris,
yes reinstalling the program you are tying to remove will often work.

It gives you a chance to see where the default installation is going.

my programs are all in their own folders -
my downloads are in a different folder - with their names, and the date I
downloaded them. and copies of the web pages that I downloaded them from.
but there aren't any files in the install folder for uninstalling.... which
is
what the forums told me to look for.
and - I can't get my fix it program to run either. it starts, and shuts
down. I
use it for a registry checker.

maybe I'll try re-installing my old spybot 1.2 over the one that is on
here. and
see if any uninstall files show up.
and - I can re-install my fix it program too - so that I can check the
registry.

Thanks for trying!!
