I'll try that - won't hurt. the last time it scanned, it actually did it at its
'normal' speed - only a short time period - but that was after my computer
re-booted itself while I was running fix-it's registry checker -
It started immediately after that last winXP update - and that first time, it
deleted files when it scanned. It deleted files the next time it scanned also.
From then on, it didn't delete files, but it would scan and take hours.
it's really frustrating!
I just ran norton's win doctor - and it says things are fine. Going to run
norton's registry checker next.

then, I'm going to set it to defrag and hopefully it will, and I'm going to go
read a book!

Hi, Have you tried hitting the Enter key after it starts the scan? That stops
mine on win98. I don't know why yours does it every time.
