Yep... could be the media, could be the drive, could be other things...
But, before we go nuts, have you tried the simplest fix sometimes... which is 
just rebooting the computer?

You said you tried 2 CD-RW's? One you said had stuff on it. Could be that you 
closed the CD and you can no longer pit anything on it.

What about the second one? Was it brand new, or does it already have some files 
on it?

What brand media are you using? And, have you ever successfully used this 
brand, or CD-RW's from this batch?
