-=PCTechTalk=- Re: saving OE export addy book problem

When you export an address book from OE you have a choice of
exporting to Microsoft Exchange or to a comma separated value (CSV)
text file. A CSV file can be read by many different database
programs including MS Excel, MS Access and others.

A CSV file can NOT be read by OE. There is no need for that
capability. If you want to IMPORT from a CSV file click
file/import/OTHER address book/Text file (comma separated
value)/Import. If you exported to Microsoft Exchange then choose to
import from that instead of the Text file.

If your intent is to save a copy of your address book in case you
need to re-install OE or if you want to place the same address book
in a second copy of OE simply copy the .wab file to the desired
location.

To find the .wab file click start/search and then search for *.wab.
To find out where to put it when you need it, do the same search on
the drive where you want it and then over write the existing .wab
file.

Let me suggest http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com as the premier source
of information on Outlook Express. I can not emphasize enough the
amount of useful information there. Far more than you will ever get
from me or anyone else here. If that is not your first place to
look for an answer, even before PCTT, then you will be wasting a lot
of time to get the same answer here, eventually. And a lot of
questions could very well go unanswered here.
