-=PCTechTalk=- Re: router hookup to laptop

I said the same thing! but - it really isn't a college situation.
They are in their own apt. and their own router etc. just like a home
situation. The campus isn't wireless and doesn't supply that stuff. For some
reason, they don't feel they can go to the college tech dept.
And remember! we are dealing with 19-20 year olds here! We mentioned to them
about instructions - and maybe a cd that came with the router - and apparently
they 'blew a gasket'.
After my friend talked to her daughter, she has pretty much decided it will be
easier to buy another router for her daughter and start from scratch!
We'll see though.
I am gathering that once I determine the brand, I should, hopefully, be able to
go to their web site, to get instructions etc.
with the luck we're having - the roommates will have laptops and have taken
them to class with them - or her daughter won't be there and we'll be locked
out of the apt!!
I just can't wait......

Thanks!!!!
Cris

HI
Ok since this is a college situation, (Assuming they are in a college apt. I am
not clear on that
point) the college should have some tech's in their computer department to help
students with the
set up. <snip>
is a personal router, then someone must have the instructions for it (and
someone set theirs up to
work on the router, check with that person). If they don't try going on line
(using a room mates
puter or a college lab computer) and see if you can locate the manual and d/l
it and print it out.
Read and follow the instructions. Good Luck.
