Hi Lori,
Before answering, I need a little clarification.
1. Are the two computers already connected? If so, how?
2. What operating systems are running on the two PCs?
3. Is your friend insisting that this transfer be performed over modems? A
much better alternative would be for him/her to purchase a special cable to
allow the computers to be connected directly to each other. Details for the
possible setups for this are explained at the link below.

Once you've discussed this with your friend, you might want to suggest

I Hope i can explain this right I have a freind who wants 2 take to
compters that are connected using a dial up connection mordem and send a
file between the 2 pc using a t comands throug the modem so that the modems
basicly can talk to each other in order 2 send the file 2 the other pc is
this posoble if so what is the easyiest way to do so i hope i have
explained this ok
