Yes,
After a little more searching Google provided the answer. You can plug a
twenty pin plug into a 24 pin socket and use it, if your power supply is
sufficient. An adapter is not needed and may be harmful if it causes you
to use a power supply that doesn't have enough wattage. In this case the
mobo had SLI capability, but also built in video. Since she will use the
built in video, and one CD/DVD drive, I felt the 300 watt supply was
adequate.
