If you are using a high resolution such as 1920x1080, try reducing it to 
1600x900 or 1360 x 768.   On an old fashioned monitor 1600 x 1200 could 
be reduced to 1200 x 900 or 800 x 600.

That will make everything a bit larger on the screen.  I use 1360 x 768 
on my display.  I'd rather use 1920 x 1080 but the old eyeballs vetoed that.
