Nope, tried both ways, it will NOT open an .ftw or .ged family tree maker 
file on the thumb drive, it WILL open other files however like "word" files 
etc...It actually comes up with a message saying it cant open a family tree 
maker file on a removeable disk.

You can open any file on a thumb drive exactly the same way you can open the
> same file on any other drive....
