G-Man, I've been cooking with gas since getting my new power supply. All is
well for now. *smile*
I use my laptop mostly for going to relatives' houses with my genealogy files.
Sometimes I bring my scanner to scan in old family pics that someone might
have. Other than that, I would LIKE to be able to do some digital scrapbooking
on it. My current laptop is old, doesn't have the RAM, processing power, or
hard drive space to store very many graphics.
I have also been reading for some time that Intel passed AMD up and is holding
that spot for now. I know gamers like AMD chips, but I don't game. My
scrapbooking projects don't require moving video. I really want to downsize a
tad and get something a little smaller and lighter than what I have, so I'm
looking at 14.1" screens. I found a good deal on an HP that comes with 3GB RAM
and a Core 2 Duo, but it only has Vista 32 bit on it and won't be able to take
advantage of the 4 GB maximum RAM capacity. This disappoints me. The touchpad
stayed nice and cool on this one. I do most of my graphics on my desktop, but
I'd like to be able to do it on my laptop if I want to demonstrate it to
someone else, or go on a trip, or bring it to class where we teach PSP and
digital scrapbooking. It would be much easier to take the laptop with
everything already on it and my program already tweaked to my liking than to
have to bring external media and use someone else's program that is not tweaked
to my liking. I won't be using it every day.
Are there any specific brands that I should definitely stay away from? My
current laptop is a Toshiba and is in mint condition.
