-=PCTechTalk=- Re: pctechtalk Digest V4 #307

The laptop is a Compaq Presario 700Z.
When I tried to install Win98 and Win98 second edition, I would type the code
in and it would just shut itself off because it wouldn't
recognize the code.
Where would I buy the restore disks?? Thanks again for the help. ..Paula

Even though it's past warranty, maybe you can still buy the restore discs?
What make/model is it?
What's happening with 98 install that prevents you from doing it?

I have a laptop w/Win XP ...it crashed & I tried to restore it using the
restoral CD's that came w/it. The first two disks were ok but the third one
was bad. I then tried to install Win98 & Win98 second edition but the computer
would not let me install them. The laptop is no longer under warrantee so I
cannot get the 3rd CD. Any suggestions on how to get an operating system on
it other than going out & buying another XP operating system disk.
Thank you in advance, Paula
