Have no idea but I wonder why you coulndn't back up OE and then do that 
removal thing and see what it does do--if'n you lost the whole works you 
would have the back up to restore ???

Compacting folders doesn't do this. I've always been afraid
to run 'clean up' in the tools/options/maintenance area. It
says it gets rid of  downloaded messages on your computer.
Does anyone know what this actually does? maybe she clicked
that button?

Hi Group
I have a friend running windows xp home  sp2
today outlook express  told here it could compress her
folders she click ok
the next time she opened outlook express all her emails in
her inbox for to day date were gone but some older one's
were still there
all other folders were ok
so  she tried using system restore it did not help
what wood make outlook do this an is there away to fix it
