I think you are on the right track. I've had Norton's SW for eight years and
never had any downloading trouble with anything.

I didn't KNOW I was getting a new puter. my old one is in for repairs but
it's not a great model and probably past it's prime..I couldn't wait for
almost 3 weeks to get it fixed, so I got a new one on the spur--so to speak.
I had a package deal that included Norton 2006 installed AND updated and all
windows updates..but anything I spose is possible. I can download just about
anything else..just not the security stuff. No other AV or firewall even tho
I don't have a firewall at the moment other than what XP has. I can't
download so I am stuck. Kinda wonder if maybe some other security issue in
Win isn't stopping things. VERY curious....
How long does WHAT software last? There was a trial software of Norton that
was over ridden by a new install done at time of purchase..Good for a year.
But it is possible something else is causing the problem.. cause I just did
a BIG download that went fine. Installed with no problem...so leads me to
wonder if it isn't a security issue in Win maybe????
