The fact that you did not have AVG open is immaterial. Norton's would still see that you have it installed and report that it is seeing another AV program. You running XP Home or Pro? Did you get Norton's Systemworks PREMIER 2005 or what systemworks? I do not understand your statement "did see that there was the trial version of Norton's so using add/remove I removed that " --- not following the trial version part with the add/removal part? Keep in mind that different years of Norton's may required different steps to uninstall a particular year of Norton's. You may have to go the Norton's web site to find out what is required for proper removal. "Norton's doesn't show up in my startup", are you meaning that if you go to start\all programs, there is nothing in the pop up menu for Norton's? Life is what happens in between plans.
