 I would suggest the different port be as far away as possible since damage
might extend to a port immediately beside the suspect port, or if damage is
ashorted or open connection problems might extend to the local connection to
the bus or even to the system's entire USB bus..  In other words, move from
the front to the back or vice versa or better yet to a totally different
machine.
