Jan, gently pull the hurt one out, reboot, wait until ALL system activity
settles and then reinsert it into a "different" USB port. If a miracle is
to be had, that is what will deliver it to you. Remember that the condition
of the plastic casing has nothing to do with the integrity of the data and
it may actually be the port it was using that suffered the brunt and damage
of the impact.
