Hi Dolores, I'm happy you got back what you did. I had to format a couple of
days ago and lost all my saved mail in OE. I don't think I had any that I can't
live without.
Sincerely Yours.
Hank

thanks I have it bookmarked now also - I'm not sure why except for my usual
complaint about the mischievous poltergeist but I had saved the .dbx file in
3 different places while I was playing around and even on a different drive
but somehow they ALL got changed to a smaller file - but the good news is
that after following the directions 4 times, the 5th time it worked and I
nearly fainted - I was able to retrieve about 60% of them so that sure is
better than nothing - back to my old resolution every time this happens
'don't keep any mail in outlook that you want to save - open and save it to
your hard drive'. Unfortunately time, back and commitments get in the way
and I can't always do that - thx for the link! Dolores

dang this looked so good but it's not working in OE6 - I created a folder
first on the C drive as suggested and I get a message that it is in use and
close the program - then I put it on my D drive but still got the same
message - I had deleted the folder from my lists of folders in case that was
the problem - any other suggestion :-( Dolores

Copy the dbx file you want to save first before you try anything else.
Then there is this link which has great help for OE problems.
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/ and this "How do I import a single mail
folder?" seems to be an answer for your problem. (but copy your dbx file
  first to a safe place)
  http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/faqs/how.htm#importdbx

If all else fails there is a dbx extractor for OE mail. I have extracted
with DBXtract but have not tried the new DBxpress. Try both of them with a
copy of your dbx file. It saves lost messages but they no longer open in OE.
