-=PCTechTalk=- Re: music

Go to Radio Shack and buy an adapter that will convert RCA plugs
(one each for Left and Right channels) to a single mini plug.

Plug the RCA plugs end onto your cable box audio output connectors
and the mini plug end to the Line IN of your audio card. If you
don't have a cable box, use the audio output on the TV set or VCR
instead. Ditto if you don't want to bother moving cables around
every time you decide to record some music. Be aware though, that
the more devices the audio signal is processed through the more
extraneous noise/distortion will be added to the signal. This is
normally very minimally noticeable when dealing with analog signals
since they are low quality signals to begin with, but when you start
taking a digital cable signal and covert it to analog through the TV
set and/or a VCR or other equipment and then take it back to digital
to play on a computer it could be much more noticeable, depending on
how sensitive your ears are and how much of an audiophile you are.

If the connectors are not RCA plugs and a mini plug then get
whatever fits the connections on your equipment.
