Hi Jeff, try this. In either OE or MSN Messenger click on tools.  IN OE
Click on MS Messenger, Uncheck the box that says run all the time so.... 
IN Messenger after clicking on tools click on options and then Uncheck
the box that says run all the time bla bla..
I think this is what I did to solve the problem that your friend across
the road is experiencing.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- chi all, this morning i had to= go help my friend
over the road with his pc.
his problem is that his= pc is used by his = granddaughter and= she has
installed all the usual stuff that kids do and they all= fire up when he
turns his pc on, i have stopped most of= them starting but i cannot find
the
answer to the last= one.   every time he starts outlook= express msn
messenger starts up and he has box,s popping up all over the place. i
have
seen the answer= (in the past few days) either in one of this groups
postingsor= on a web page that i got to from a link on one of the=
postings.
  i have spent all morning= = searching all the= posts in my deleted
folder
and clicking on links but i cannot= find it. it was something about=
unlinking the two programs.   thanks Jeff
