Lots of possibilities....

Do you hear a clicking sound?  Do you hear it when you access a file on your 
hard drive?
It could be your hard drive going.

Do you think it could be the fan?
Can you feel where the air is coming out from the fan...it is very hot?
Is there no air blowing out?
The fan could be going bad.

Not too many moving parts in the computer.

Is there a disc in the cd/dvd drive?  It is sitting in there crooked?

What kind of sound?  A hum?

Feel the computer..is it very very warm? Hot?

Just some things to think about.

Can someone tell me what would cause a computer to sound loud when it is
running?  My Dell seems to be noisey, maybe even louder than I recall from
