go to Start -> Run
type in the word *command* or *cmd* in the white box [without the *s], hit
enter key or OK button.
this brings up a DOS prompt that looks something like this [depending on the
operating system}
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\ or C:\Windows.
behind this string, you would type in *ping mail.myISP.COM*, another URL or
an IP address to test connectivity.
