-=PCTechTalk=- Re: ide or sata hard drives?

Don,
The WD sata hd has a burst race of 3.0gb/s and after reading more in the manual
for my board, it is 1.5gb/s also. My guess without doing any more reading, the
newer boards are probably 3.0gb/s compared to the my older board of 1.5gb/s.
That's probably the difference with sata I and sata II. According to the WD
site, the ide hd have a burst race of 100mb/s. So, I guess I'm getting a sata
drive for now and if it's easy to install I'll get another.

Thanks, MM

I like the SATA drives better. It is typical for them to have large caches
and spin at 7200rpm or faster.

I'm not sure about the SATA I and SATA II. I would imagine it is simply an
improved standard and either will work. Do a Google to learn more.

I do not understand the numbers "It's a sata 3.0gb/hd oem. I think my board
is a 1/5 gb" Can you clarify?

  Don
